Dr John J Regazzi Joins BSI Board

BSI Group - the standards and certification body - has announced that Dr John J Regazzi has joined its Board as a Non Executive Director.

Dr Regazzi is the former Managing Director of Market Development at Elsevier, the worlds largest publisher of scientific, technical and health information. He was also the CEO of Elsevier Inc, the US division of Elsevier, and Managing Director of Elsevier Electronic Publishing, globally.

At Elsevier, Dr Regazzi developed the Engineering Village, the first online community for engineers Scirus, the first search engine for scientific enquiry and Science Direct, the worlds largest and most used full-text article database for scientists and researchers.

From 1988 to 1998, Dr Regazzi was President and CEO of Engineering Information Inc - a leading provider of online information for researchers and practitioners in applied physical sciences and engineering where he oversaw the companys incorporation into Elsevier Inc.

Dr. Regazzi is dean of the College of Information and Computer Science at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, which has campuses throughout the New York metropolitan area. He gained his doctorate from Rutgers University. He is a graduate of Columbia University and holds an MA from the University of Iowa and a BA from St Johns University. He is the author of numerous articles and papers.

BSI Group has a library of more than 27,000 current standards, and 46,000 published products, including DVDs, CDs and around 250 books. These are distributed globally in over 86 countries. In addition, BSI has an extensive electronic publishing operation including British Standards Online which makes available electronic versions of 39,000 current, draft and historic British Standards.
