The strong authentication solution developed conjointly between XIRING and IDEALX is based on the use of a smart card, a portable and connectable reader and a dedicated server.

In a world where corporate networks are connected to the Internet, identity theft and usurpation are threats that have become ever more prevalent. Access to sensitive data is a major concern for most corporations. IDEALX and XIRING have pooled together their expertise to provide large corporate clients with a smart card-based strong authentication solution in order to ensure a high level of security when accessing and manipulating sensitive data.

The new solution addresses the needs of all large corporations wishing to secure the access to and exchange of sensitive data, while supporting the workforces mobility needs.

The architecture is based on the use of:

• A private smart card storing the cryptographic keys enabling the strong authentication and digital signature
  
• A XIRING reader: a nomadic and portable reader that works in both connected and remote unconnected modes
  
• An Open Trust authorisation server (IDX-AAA): the digital rights management is based on an AAA server (Authentication, Authorisation, Accounting) and uses the Freeradius technology
  
• A Open Trust Card Management System (IDX-SCM): this Open Source card management system enables corporations to centrally manage the issuance, updating, replacement and cancellation of corporate cards.

To successfully perform an authenticated connection, the end user only needs his smart card, the XIRING device and access to the service (web, application,). He may choose to use either a PDA, a lap top, a cellular phone, a personal or shared computer.
