Skybox Security/ISS Technology Alliance

Skybox Security, Inc., a risk management company, and Internet Security Solution (ISS) have formed a technology alliance encompassing three distinct components: product integration between the Skybox View suite and the ISS Proventia Network Enterprise Scanner, ISS Proventia Management SiteProtector and ISS Proventia Network Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) sales referrals and joint marketing cooperation.

Over the past two years, IT Security Risk Management (IT SRM) has emerged as the complete process of understanding threats, quantifying risk, prioritising vulnerabilities, auditing security controls and reducing unnecessary patches through a continuously refreshed security risk profile. According to IDC estimates, the IT SRM market is expected to grow from 328 million in 2005 to 500 million in 2007.

The technology partnership includes three joint business efforts to develop and promote the value proposition of the combined product offering:

  • Product Integration: Delivering on the first phase of the relationship, Skybox has integrated the newly released ISS Proventia Network Enterprise Scanner and ISS Proventia Management SiteProtector with its flagship Security Risk Management Suite, Skybox View. Customers using the integrated solution will be able to reveal low ranking or previously unnoticed vulnerabilities that create a business exposure in order to refocus mitigation efforts. The combined solution will also allow customers to demonstrate decreased risk exposure over time and show continuous improvement of an organisation's security posture.

    In addition to the integration with Enterprise Scanner and as part of phase two of the relationship, Skybox intends to integrate the ISS Proventia Network Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) product line with Skybox View's modelling, simulation and reporting capabilities during calendar year 2006. The combined solution is expected to provide customers with a comprehensive visual representation of the vulnerabilities averted through IPS.

  • Sales Referrals: Skybox and ISS sales representatives will conduct joint sales calls to mutual customers who benefit from either an integrated product offering or the addition of one of the companys respective solutions. When sold as a combined solution, special promotional pricing will be available.
  • Joint Marketing: Skybox and ISS have agreed to conduct joint marketing programs including joint collateral and presentations, joint website exposure and promotion and educational webcasts that promote the value proposition of the combined product offering.
