Prim'X Technologies, a provider of transparent encryption technology for enterprises and government organisations has launched its encryption engine into the UK market. ZoneCentral V.2.5 allows businesses to secure sensitive files and folders from unauthorised access and is compatible with most authentication methods already deployed in corporate environments, including token smart cards, key files, and USB devices.

Deployed on the client or server side, ZoneCentral allows Security Managers to enforce access policies to certain user groups or individuals. A unique access key is provided to users who require access to sensitive data. All other attempts are simply denied access through an encrypted pathway that is continually re-encrypted for advanced security. There is a growing trend among many of today's businesses to outsource the management of desktops and their IT applications to third party companies who host critical corporate information on external servers. With ZoneCentral, the data remains encrypted in any environment (on the network, external drives, etc.) and only authorised and authenticated users can access the data. The system itself is not encrypted so system administrators can work on desktops, servers or laptops without accessing encrypted zones. Encrypted files can also be securely sent via e-Mail, as the recipient is unable to open the compressed encrypted file without providing the access key.

Embedded within the operating system's kernel, ZoneCentral also removes the risk of spyware recording keyboard stokes to entrap users into providing the access key. With customers including French financial institutions, and governmental agencies, Prim'X intends to replicate its success in the UK with distribution partners who have experience in providing corporations with high-level security solutions.
