New Version of SSH Tectia Server For IBM Z/OS
19 Dec 12:33

SSH Communications Security has announced that SSH Tectia Server for IBM z/OS 5.3 is available. It features support for digital certificates and third-party PKI (Public-Key Infrastructure) systems.

SSH Tectia Server for IBM z/OS is an enterprise-class Secure Shell solution with direct MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage) file system support and hardware acceleration for secure cross-platform file transfers and secure TN3270 connections. The solution earlier this year received the IBM ServerProven certification.

With the introduction of certificate support in the new version, SSH Tectia customers can now leverage both user certificates and server certificates in all key enterprise platforms, including Windows, Unix, Linux, and mainframes. The certificate validation capabilities, including support for multi-level certificate chains and multiple revocation methods, ensure interoperability with any X.509v3 standards-compliant PKI environment. In addition, two-factor authentication tokens and smart cards, such as Common Access Card (CAC), can now be used to authenticate mainframe users when they transfer files or use TN3270 applications from Windows workstations, eliminating the security risks of memorized passwords. The system allows users optionally to generate and store private keys on hardware and use System Authorization Facility (SAF) for storing certificates.
