McAfee, Inc. has announced that Jeff Green has been named senior vice president of McAfee Avert Labs and Product Development.
In his new role, Green has worldwide responsibility for McAfees research organisation, located throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. He will oversee research teams focused on viruses, hacker/targeted attacks, spyware, spam, phishing, vulnerabilities and patches, and host and network intrusion technologies. Green will also lead long-term security research to ensure that McAfee stays ahead of emerging threats.
Green is an industry veteran with over 10 years of experience in software security. He has spent the last seven years with McAfee as senior vice president of product development. During this time, Green was instrumental in helping McAfee provide protection to customers when Melissa, the first major email-borne virus, hit and was first to deliver anti-virus gateway appliances. He has also been responsible for delivering the core technology McAfee uses to provide anti-virus and spyware protection to its customers. Before joining McAfee, Green held senior management positions at Dr. Solomons and Clearswift. He has also been involved in product development for the banking and telecommunications space.
Green is a graduate in Computer Science of the University of East Anglia.
