Network Admission Control Solution
21 Sep 04:43

AEP Networks has announced the AEP NACpoint for network admission control (NAC).

NACpoint protects networked resources against attack from unknown users and devices by:

  • authenticating users requesting LAN access
  • performing a node posture validation scan of clients (validating that a machine is current on patches and anti-virus and spyware signatures), and
  • placing offending clients in quarantine and enabling remediation.

AEP NACpoint provides consistent network admission policy enforcement and patch remediation independent of traffic origin and, therefore, is suitable for remote access, guest and partner access, wireless, and wired conference rooms. Customers may migrate guests, partners, consultants and conference room access from visitors on wired Ethernet connections - or, for example, can add policy networking to Cisco Aironet based wireless access point rollouts.

Deployment of the AEP NACpoint solution is simplified because it fits transparently into existing network architectures and works with most existing managed network switches (e.g. Cisco, Enterasys, Extreme, HP, 3Com). It performs out-of-band managed switch control and provides VLAN-based creation of isolation, remediation and production zones.
