BigFix, Inc., a provider of enterprise security configuration management solutions, has added real-time inventory and pre-packaged updates for widely used third-party Microsoft Windows-compatible applications to the automated software patch and update distribution service that supports its BigFix Enterprise Suite software.

The new service, packaged as BigFix Fixlet messages, initially includes updates for Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, Apple iTunes, Apple QuickTime, Java Runtime Environment, Mozilla Firefox, Nullsoft Winamp, Real Networks RealPlayer, and Skype client software.

The expanded range of update content from BigFix extends the companys offerings that include Fixlet-plus-update distributions of patches and updates for the Microsoft Windows operating environment and Microsoftbranded application products. Under the BigFix business model, licenses for the BigFix Enterprise Suite typically include both the right to use BigFix software and subscriptions to software updates packaged for distribution via BigFix infrastructures.
