Aon Consulting, a pensions, benefits and HR consultancy, is expanding its UK business into the IT Risk Consulting Services market. The newly established service will provide law firms and corporations with electronic evidence, high-tech investigations and information security consulting services in the UK and Europe.

The firm has appointed Nigel Jones, a well-known veteran in cyber crime detection and management, to head up its new IT Risk Consulting offering in the UK. In his new role, Mr Jones will nurture and develop a core team to deliver IT Risk Consulting services to clients. The team will be based in Aon Consultings London office.

To date, IT Risk Consulting services have been offered as part of Aon Consultings Financial Advisory & Litigation Consulting Services practice in the USA. The UK launch follows on from high demand for these services in the USA, and is in response to the rise of the litigious culture in the UK.

Nigel Jones joins Aon Consulting from the National Centre for Policing Excellence at Wyboston, UK, where as head of high-tech crime training he created and managed the high-tech crime training programme for the police service. Prior to that, Mr Jones completed 30-years service with Kent Police. While there, Mr Jones was responsible for the development and creation of the Kent Police Computer Crime Unit, worked with the Serious Fraud Office, and was a member of the Fraud Squad. He also served as the secretary to the Association of Chief Police Officers Computer Crime Working Group. In addition, Mr Jones was the UK representative to the G8 high tech crime sub group and was elected to chair the Interpol European Working Party on IT Crime by the member countries.
