The innovative Smart Card Centre, part of the Information Security Group (ISG) at Royal Holloway University of London hosts its open day on 20th September 2005 to bring together industry, staff and students.

Visitors will be able to see practical demonstrations by postgraduate students and industry exhibitors showcasing the latest Smart Card products and technology. The event will be a networking and exhibition opportunity for the Centres sponsors, supporters, lecturers, students and honoured international guests from industry and government organisations. It also provides students with the chance to seek career contacts and there will be awards for the best student and industry exhibits.

The Open Day will be formally opened by Professor Mike Walker who is the Head of Vodafone Group R&D and there will also be an invited lecture in the afternoon. Vodafone and Giesecke & Devrient together with the Information Security Group founded the Centre in October 2002. The aim was to create a world-wide centre of excellence for training and research in the field of Smart Cards, applications and related technologies. Today, the Smart Card Centre enjoys support from many companies and organisations.

The event will run from 9.00am until 4.15pm and will be held in Royal Holloways world famous Picture Gallery, which will serve as the main exhibition hall.
