05 May 12:34

The CARTES 2005 trade fair will celebrate its 20th anniversary by launching the IDentification area, which will be totally dedicated to identification technologies. For the three days of the exhibition and conferences, to be held from 15 to 17 November 2005 at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre, the CARTES trade fair will host leading figures in the smart card sector from all over the world.

With 30,000m2 of floor space, 15,000 visitors from more than 120 countries, a full and varied conference programme involving 1,500 convention delegates and 250 speakers, as well as the 2005 Sesame Awards for innovation, CARTES is the biggest event in the sector.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, CARTES has developed a new area dedicated to identity management, biometric deployment, RFID and technologies linked to secured documents and databases. Located at the centre of the trade fair, this new area will be a source of added attraction for decision-making visitors for applications as diverse as telecommunications, ticketing, trade, e-commerce, national security, defence, access to sensitive places (airports, hospitals, stadiums, etc.), health insurance, and so on. It will bring together a global range of new identification technologies - RFID/AIDC, e-government, authentication, contactless technology, biometrics, secured documents, access control, and more.

A programme of conferences will discuss the factors linked to these developments and their economic, technological, legal and ethical aspects. Debates will also include key applications linked to the challenges of information systems, digital identity, electronic transaction systems and, more broadly, network security at applications or multiple levels, using personal data protection or digital rights management.
