Rise in Mobile Workers Leave IT Support Staff Stretched

04 Sep 06:53

The rapid increase in mobile working is expanding beyond the rate at which IT staff can support it, with 69 per cent of workers calling for better communication from IT staff, according to new research from Citrix.

The study carried out by Coleman Parkes, also showed that over 50 per cent of mobile workers felt they were being let down by their IT team while working away from the office indicating a need for businesses to invest in overworked IT departments to help them meet the growing demand.

Remote working is increasing in popularity as the technologies and networks improve and businesses begin to recognise the benefits. It helps employees concentration by cutting interruptions, reduces the need to travel and improves quality of life by allowing workers to balance their professional and personal life. Security risks are a real concern however, with remote workers susceptible to dangers such as virus attacks, hackers and the theft of sensitive information.

By not giving employees the technical back-up they need, companies are being short sighted could find themselves left behind.
