New Version of PDA Protect Supports Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0

BeCrypt has released the latest version of PDA Protect software that supports Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 Operating System. The new version is compatible with the new Windows messaging pack that supports Direct Push email, the latest technology whereby emails are sent automatically to users PDAs without users needing to log on or download them via a browser. PDA Protect enables users to access data when working remotely using their PDA, while ensuring that information remains company secure.

PDA Protect provides enterprise protection, using strong authentication and encryption to protect devices and removable memory. It enables organisations to protect both the connection to, and transfer of, corporate data as users log on to company networks and databases to work remotely. This avoids both the unintentional and malicious loss of data that many corporates face with distributed computing environments and the increased use of mobile technology and flexible remote working.

PDA Protect is designed to be easy to install and manage using existing network management tools. It can ensure that protected PDAs are prevented from connecting to un-authorised workstations, such as unmanaged home PCs. Should a user forget their password, the Device Recovery facility permits the user to regain access. PDA Protect can be configured to automatically delete all data, should the password failures exceed a pre-determined number.

The software also controls or restricts the use of the PDA functionality, allowing specific vulnerabilities, such as those associated with Bluetooth, to be avoided. Auditing is provided to log device connections and file transfers. Originally designed for UK Government use, PDA Protect is supplied in government and commercial versions, with features tailored to each sector.
